Our review compares tablets on customer satisfaction, so you can find out what other Aussies think about their tablet brands before you buy. It’s like asking hundreds of your closest mates which tablet brand they think is best!
Canstar Blue surveyed 452 Australians for their feedback on a tablet device they’ve purchased in the last two years. This refers to tablet devices only and not two-in-one style laptops, which convert into a tablet.
Survey respondents are asked to rate their satisfaction with their tablet brand from zero to 10, where zero is extremely dissatisfied and ten is extremely satisfied. Brand satisfaction was rated by respondents on the following criteria:
The winning brand is the brand that receives the highest Overall satisfaction rating after scores from the Overall satisfaction criteria are combined and averaged. Overall satisfaction is asked as a specific question and represents an individual measure, not a combined total of all criteria.
To qualify in the ratings results, brands must have received a minimum of 30 responses to be included. Therefore, not all tablet brands in the market will be compared in this survey. Brands rated in this survey are listed below in order of best overall satisfaction.

Samsung scored top spot with five stars for almost all categories: overall satisfaction, value for money, battery and charging performance, user friendliness, durability and design. It scored its only four-star result for performance.
Apple came in second place with five stars for performance and design. It scored four stars for most other categories, including overall satisfaction, however it scored three stars for value for money. Rounding out our ratings in third was Lenovo with four stars for value for money and design, while it scored three stars in all remaining categories, including overall satisfaction and user friendliness.
Out of those surveyed, 13% had purchased their tablet on a plan. Of the 87% who had purchased outright, the average outright price paid for their tablet was $615. Just under a third of respondents say that the brand is the most important factor in choosing their tablet, while a quarter of respondents consider price to be the most important.
41% of those surveyed had purchased their tablet on sale. While 30% researched devices online and purchased online, 33% researched devices online and then opted to purchase in store. Of those surveyed, 15% wish they had purchased a better tablet, while 19% don’t use their tablet as much as they thought they would.

Meet the Research TeamCanstar Blue surveyed over 3,000 Australian adults across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction, via ISO 26362 accredited research panels managed by Qualtrics. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased a tablet computer in the last two years – in this case, 452 people. Note: this includes standalone tablets, such as iPads and tablets with detachable keypads, not laptops.
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The ratings table is first sorted by star ratings and then by mean overall satisfaction. A rated brand may receive a ‘N/A’ (Not Applicable) rating if it does not receive the minimum number of responses for that criteria.
